The One Where I Get Conjunctivitis in Rural France

I guess the title of this one says quite a lot doesn’t it!!

We are currently house-sitting in the Lot valley in France, looking after a lovely cat, dog and some chickens. We’re well and truly in the French countryside. The nearest village is a 30 minute walk up the hill, and the closest town is 30 minutes by car. Bliss!

Until something bad happens. In which case, we’re stuck in the middle of nowhere, with a faint grasp of the language and no car. Lucy gets travel sickness in cars anyway, but to add insult to injury – she also has conjunctivitis. And we have no way of getting to the doctors surgery….eeek. Being ill whilst travelling is not something we are a stranger to (Oh hai India) but this is our most tricky challenge yet……..

So, we call in some favours from our host’s friends, and get ourselves to the town where we see the lovely French doctor, who didn’t make us wait, and gives us the prescription for Conjunctivitis, which we get from the Pharmacy round the corner.

Well done French healthcare.

So, really our lovely relaxing stay in France is now just Lucy lying in bed until her eye gets better, in roughly 3 days if my French serves me correctly, and me pottering round the house.

Fingers crossed that we will be able to see some of the local villages before we jet out of here in a couple of weeks!

Au revoir!

We were house-sitting in the Lot valley. We were near the lovely village of Montcuq (maybe 10 kilometres away). We use the website trustedhousesitters.com which has been good so far for us! Thanks – Lucy got better after we went to the lovely doctor.
      Thanks! Oli
