I can’t remember the last time my hair looked even remotely acceptable. Every evening I brush it out of the matted knot it has become (as all curly girls now, brushing is sacrilege), smear coconut oil into it and plait (braid) it. In the morning I unplait it to reveal…….well, all I’ll say is that it ain’t Rapunzels glossy locks.
Sun, salt water and general laziness have left it pretty ravaged and in need of stacks of TLC. I decided this year that I’d stop piling it all on top of my head and mix it up with some new styles…..I even wrote about it. Deep stuff, I know.
Wearing it down, is simply not an option for me. I have the magic porridge pot of hair which is to say, it’s thick. Insanely thick, and there is an LOT of it. It grows fast too, so even when I act like a proper lady and go to the hairdresser regularly to cut it down by at least a third, it grows back within a few weeks. It’s insane.
There are a few things I like about it though. It’s curly, but the curls don’t start until a little way down so at it’s best, it looks like dreamy beach curls. I also like the colour, which is a nice mix of dark brunette with loads of red and zero greys.
Okay so I have whinged and waxed lyrical about my hair but I haven’t talked about any solutions to the travel hair predicament.
The French, fishtail, dutch or side…..maybe even waterfall? These are a few of my faves……
Enjoy:) How do you cope with travel hair?

I have ridiculously thick hair which just frizzes out in the heat. I lived in plaits until I shaved it all off in March! A bit drastic maybe but I now lovely short hair which is much less maintained and SO much cooler!!

Wow that is a brave move! My hair is curly too, so I would worry about having short hair….I think it would potentially end up harder to manage. What do you think?
