We all have something that works for your best friend, your fave blogger, everyone else but somehow it just doesn’t do anything for you. It’s so much more worse than the things you pick up on a whim and just disappoint…..it enrages you, it makes you question the beauty industry, nay, the world we live in!
Maybe that’s just me.
I thought I’d share a few of the products that sit in my stash to remind me not to spend money willy nilly, and that no, just because it’s entirely brand new and seems like it’s got no use…..that it actually probably hasn’t got a use.
Now, I was excited about Sephora…..so I guess you could blame that for this ridiculous purchase. I had also watched something about ‘oil-in gel’ formulas and how they were the latest thing in skincare so that affected my judgement a bit….needless to say I bought it, and was duly excited for the next bold lip outing so I could test it out. Well, let me tell you it’s crap. I mean, it takes lipstick off and it kind of feels like a more moisturising way to take your lippy off but seriously, what a pointless extra step. Just take it off with your normal cleanser/make up remover, whack some lip balm on if you need moisture and go about your day.
The premise of this is based on the fact that your nails need to be free of oils pre varnish, which makes sense and I’m sure my sister Emma who is a beauty therapist will attest to. However, my beef with this product is that it doesn’t realy do anything…..it does cleanse the nails (if you have any paper cuts, they will sting) but there really was no difference in how the polish went on or how long it lasted thereafter. I’m sure it works for some people, but for me there was really no effect.
Cult Beauty, £12
I was so excited to receive this from Cult Beauty, as I love Emma Hardie. Her Moringa cleansing balm is epic, and I had such high hopes…..but it was just one of those balms that feels nice for a few seconds after applying and then you get the urge to lick your lips or re-apply immediately after it wears off. Honestly, I would put this in the category of shamefully, irritatingly bad products. At £12 a pop, I expected a LOT more bang for my buck.
All is not lost however as I’m sure I will find a good home for these lovely (but pointless) products…any takers?!
