I feel like every man and his dog is writing up a Christmas gift guide so I wasn’t sure if the world needed another one from yours truly but….. why the hell would I want to be unique anyway? I bloody love reading them so I presume that everyone else does too. I LOVE buying Christmas presents, and I love receiving them even more, naturally, so every year I compile a list that even the most Virgoan of Virgo’s would be proud of.
Being both a travel, and a beauty lover it seemed highly appropriate to go ahead and write for the person I feel is the most uner represented in most gift guides……me. Yep, this gift guide will help you buy for that special someone who loves travelling as much as they love beauty and doesn’t see any reason to compromise when travelling by, and I’m naming no names here by the way, looking like they’ve been hit by the unkempt tree. The fact that this person bears more than a little resemblance to myself is a happy coincidence. Honest…..
I’ve tried to cater for all budgets, and whilst some of these things I may own or have tried in the past, some are just things I’ve researched and fallen in love with.
1) Passport Cover
What self respecting traveller doesn’t want to protect their beautiful, well stamped passport with some top quality leather? I bought one for Oli last year from Aspinall, which is super classic and pretty keenly priced but I love this girlier option from Not On The High Street and obviously anything with the London Underground on gets my vote.
2) Eye Mask
If you are on a long haul flight/bus/train then you’re gonna want one of these, and that traveller in your life? They want one too. I am a big fan of sleeping, a really big fan and the best way I know how to block out everything and relax into a deep sleep is a) ear plugs, b) neck pillow and c) an eye mask. This one from Holistic Silk is a cult classic and those who loathe lavender will love this cheaper duper from Zara Home.
3) Travel Bottles from Muji
Ok so this is super specific and obviously, you can get travel bottles (to decant your toiletries into) elsewhere….but I just love the range in Muji.
Now, there will be a time in the gift recipients life when she will need some form of lipstick, even if she’s travelling. As such, I have picked out a few that work even when the humidity has turned your hair into a poor imitation of Diana Ross.
Maybelline SuperStay 24hr Lipstick (£8.99) has a stain one end, and a balm the other….I absolutely love the staying power and the balm stops your lips from drying out and looking like flaky pastry. My gorgeous travel blogger buddy Christina, from Fleeting Life recommended this prouct to me.
I’ve talked about my obsession with Dior Lipglow endlessly but Kiko do a great dupe in the form of their ph Lip Enhancer balm for a fraction of the price. It’s nice and low key and very good value at £6.90.
This beautiful Lip Crayon from Zoeva looks and feels so much more expensive than it is (£6.80!). I love this version of a lipstick….the crayon is so much easier to use than a regular lipstick and looks kinda luxe too.
5) Anything from Lush
Ok, not necessarily anything from Lush, that’s probably a Lucy-specific wish….but as I have mentionedon here, more times than anyone cares to remember, I love Lush.
Even if you have always coughed and spluttered your way past Lush, violently exclaiming that you will never enter due to the pungent fragrance that fills every store — I urge you now, go. If only to purchase what will be, the best gift you can give a frequent traveller. Lush have the most fantastic range of solid things…..soap, shampoo, conditioner and even sunblock. It is truly a haven for the ethically conscious, space challenged, beauty loving traveller.
