S4E2: Plus-sized travel blogging with Kirsty Leanne

Hey you,

Hope you had an EXCELLENT weekend. I did, thanks for asking (I’ll go ahead and presume you did…)

Welcome to episode two, where I chat with plus sized travel blogger Kirsty Leanne, who is L-to the OVELY.

She talked to me about her journey, from starting out as a beauty blogging before transitioning into travel. In particular, we talked all about the inequality and fattism in travel blogging and how Kirsty calls out brands and aims to level the playing field.

Referenced in the episode:

She is passionate about building community and, in her words, “In a community where plus size travellers are made to feel unwelcome, I want to inspire and advise people like me on how they can make the most out of their own incredible travel experiences.”

I loved chatting with her and hope you enjoy the episode. Please rate, review, share it if you did!

Welcome back to the podcast! I’m your host; Lucy Lucraft, a freelance journalist, blogger and podcaster AND former Londoner now based in Brighton.

It’s season 4!!!! I’m super excited to be back and overusing the word super once more. So…..what’s been going on? What’s to come? What can you expect from S4?

I’ve had a four, almost five month hiatus this time around and it’s been nice. I’ve had time to strategise and work on other projects as well as start growing another baby…..

If you follow me online already you’ll know one of my big goals this year was to ensure my podcast was diverse. I also wanted to make it a more sustainable endeavour so I decided to start funding it through Patreon which, is much harder than it may initially seem! But it can be done and I’ve a guest coming up to talk about how they make the bulk of their income via Patreon so watch out for that.

I have a new podcast producer in the wonderful Tori Mears who you may know as Tori.Candid online. She is a total wizard and will be providing podcast production support on some of the episodes.

There will be the usual honest blogging chat with inspiring women as well as solo episodes punctuating them where I’ll chat for 15-20 mins about different topics pertaining to blogging.

The What She Said Facebook community, which I closed down while on hiatus is back once more! That’s something I couldn’t be happier about because…..well, it’s the damn best.

The other new things I’ve introduced for this season are pay what you can sponsorship slots for indie businesses. There won’t be a sponsor every episode but when there is it will be CLEARLY marked as such and I hope you’ll love them as much as I do!

Also, I’ll be sharing my review of the week! And sharing my favourite blog of the week too.

I think that’s all for season 4…..expect it in a couple of weeks! If you’d like to stay up to date, you can find me on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.
