Throwback Thursday - Sihanoukville, Cambodia
Otres beach in Sihanoukville was probably one of our favourite places. We stayed for a week on the lovely stretch of sand that offered some of the most incredible sunsets of our entire trip. As the weather in the UK starts to become more and more inclement, it is sad to think that we are no longer sunning ourselves on a lovely sandy beach. Lucikly, we will be returning to South East Asia, and therefore there will be more beaches and sun to see, but nonetheless, it is still a sad day when one looks out at grey skies instead of blistering sunshine.
While in Sihanoukville, I particularly enjoyed the beer-friendly happy hours. 50 cents for a 30cl beer is a pretty good conversion rate, and it was pretty good beer as well. Almost all the bars along Otres beach offered happy hours that worked together. It was possible to drink from 10am to 11pm just on happy hour beers.
Sadly for Lucy, beer is not her favourite, so she had to make do with a combination of wine, cocktails and fruit ciders that said establishments were offering up. All of these were washed down with a quality serving of sunsets that was more than we could have hoped for. Almost every sunset that we witnessed down in Sihanoukville was spectacular.
If there was any place that I would recommend to go for an amazing sunset washed down with cheap beer, Otres beach in Sihanoukville would have to be it.
It's this place that I think of when I wake up at 5.30 every morning to serve coffee to people. This is the reason that we work shitty jobs that pay less than we deserve, because we know that in January, Febraury, March and April all we have to do is wake up and walk to the beach to see this. So if you fancy joining us in sunset paradise, drop us a line. We'll definitely bring you with us.
